Christy Embrey
LVT
Christy joined Hartwood Animal Hospital in March of 2008 after having the good fortune to be a stay at home mom for the previous 3 years. She started her very first job as a kennel assistant in 1992, and has worked in the field ever since.
She graduated with honors from Virginia Community College in 1998, receiving an A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology with the intention of then going on to become a Veterinarian. After working as an LVT for a couple of years and becoming familiar with the dynamics between Technician and Doctor, Christy realized she preferred the more hands on work of the Technician. She has since dedicated herself to promoting and educating the public on what an LVT is, and what part they play in the care and treatment of your loved ones.
Christy has lived and worked in Northern Virginia her whole life. She has also worked at a variety of small animal hospitals – several that had 13+ doctors on staff to a Surgical/Internal Medicine Referral practice. Hartwood Animal Hospital is definitely the setting she prefers due to the close knit staff and the homey ambiance set by Dr. Helen Jewett. Hartwood Animal Hospital is where she hopes to fulfill the duration of her career as an LVT.
Christy’s furry and non-furried family includes:
- 4 dogs – Morgan, Mimzy, Moe, and Manny
- 2 Kitties – Dorey and Darla
- 2 Fresh water fish tanks
- 1 Fat tailed gecko – Lizzy
And last but not least:
- 1 Husband – Bryan
- 2 Children – Hannah and Zoe
