Ticks are most likely to bite...

  • between the months of April and November
  • in the Northeast and North central states
These areas account for more then 90% of reported cases.

However, please keep in mind that one warm day during the winter months may bring a tick out of hibernation and onto you or your pet.

Symptoms of Lyme Disease

The disease affects many organs of the body, and therefore produces a wide range of symptoms. The most common signs of Lyme disease are lameness that shifts legs with corresponding joint pain.

Lyme’s disease is generally seen in dogs, but it can be seen in cats.
Currently, there's no vaccine for cats.

Prevention of Lyme Disease

If your pet is outdoors, you live in a wooded area, you hike or you've had a battle with ticks, then your pet is at a higher risk of contracting the disease. Irregardless of any risk factors, please be sure to observe these preventative measures to ensure your pet's health and longevity.

  • Vaccinate annually
  • Annual 3DX heartworm test
(tests for two tick-borne diseases including Lyme)
  • We recommend using a flea & tick preventative year-round
