Bordatella Vaccine (Kennel Cough)
Kennel cough is a highly contagious upper respiratory disease that predominantly affects dogs in crowded, confined areas. It is transferred through respiratory secretions.
Your pet is considered a high risk if:
- they go to the park
- are regularly groomed
- attend daycare
- board in a kennel
- compete in dog shows or games
- interact with neighbor dogs
Symptoms
A sign of infection is a deep, dry hacking cough that may produce a foamy mucous (sounding like the human croup).
Treatment
Treatment can include antibiotics to shorten the duration of the disease, but it usually needs to run its course.
Prevention
There isn't a vaccine that is labeled for 12 months of protection. We recommend vaccinating every six months to ensure your dog is protected.
