Leptospirosis Vaccine (DHPP)

This annual vaccine protect dogs against Leptospirosis. It used to be a part of the Distemper vaccine, but it is now given separately.

Prevention

  • Vaccinate annually and remember to isolate your new puppy until they are current on all vaccines.
  • This vaccination is also required for boarding at Hartwood.
  • Keep your dog away from any stagnant water!

Description

Leptospirosis is a severe infection caused by a bacterium. Leptospirosis is transferred through urine contaminated water or any direct contact with the urine of an infected animal or wildlife. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, dry cough and conjunctivitis.

This disease CAN be transferred to humans!

**Dogs less then 20 lbs. will not be vaccinated for Leptospirosis due to high incidence of vaccine reactions.
