Dr. Helen Jewett


Dr. Helen Jewett has been a practicing Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine since 1991 when she graduated from Ross University School of Veterinarian Medicine. Dr. Jewett has worked at Alexandria Animal Hospital, Virginia-Maryland Veterinary Emergency Service and Ridge Lake Animal Hospital. She has practiced at Ridge Lake for the past 12 years.

For more than 12 years, Dr. Jewett has experience working with exotic animal medicine. She is also fluent in Spanish, and belongs to the following associations:

  • American Animal Hospital Association
  • University of Florida Alumni Association
  • Ross University Alumni Association
  • Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians
  • Association of Avian Veterinarians
  • Mid-Atlantic States Association of Avian Veterinarians

Dr. Jewett believes in developing a strong vet-client-patient relationship with emphasis on client education, current diagnostic techniques, treatment and preventative medicine. She also strongly believes in continuing education, keeping up with this industry’s latest and greatest by frequently attending continuing education meetings for herself and her staff.

Armed with these convictions, Dr. Jewett enthusiastically makes sure her clients and patients are completely and properly cared for. She happily goes the extra mile to make sure her clients are totally satisfied as if their pets were her very own.

Speaking of her ‘very own,’ the members of her personal zoo are:

  • Godzilla, Ball Python
  • Gator & Goofy, 3 yr old Weiner Dogs
  • Wolverine, 9 mo old German Shepherd
  • Buttercup, 5 yr old Maine Coon
  • Domino, 4 yr old Domestic Short-hair (black & white)
  • Romantic Endeavor, 6 yr old American Warm-blood Stallion
  • 2 Water Turtles
  • Nemo, 7 gallon Salt Tank
  • The rest of the ‘Nemo’ gang is in a 150 gallon Reef Tank
  • Dave, her husband
